Golden Gate Bridge Photo Contest

As most of you know, San Francisco is my home. I am totally and completely in love (read: obsessed) with it. Every single aspect of this city, from the organic eateries to the soup kitchens, from the expensive boutiques to the bargain thrift shops, from the hipsters to the mom and pops running the different microneighborhoods—this city is the city for me.

On a whim, I submitted a photograph of mine to the 7x7 magazine’s Golden Gate Bridge Photo Contest, in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the GG Bridge this year. I had taken the picture with my iphone, but it had been a perfect day in the city and I had never seen the bridge in such beautiful conditions. Of course, the one day I didn’t have my dslr camera on me was the day I had something spectacular to capture. I should know better by now, right? But like I always say, “Take pictures, often, with whatever camera you have.”   So that’s exactly what I did, and thankfully a cell phone is no longer just a phone. When I heard that my photograph had actully been selected out of thousands of entries to be a semi-finalist, I jumped around with excitement! It’s an honor just to be in a photo contest about San Francisco.

7x7 Magazine opened up the polls and let the readers vote. I guess you and the other 7x7 readers liked it, because now my photograph was named as one of the Top 7 Finalists! And they’re choosing THREE winners!

Long story short, I need your support and votes!

Please vote for me and I will be eternally grateful! It would truly mean the world to me.

Until then, I will keep on snapping away and capturing the moments of SF that I hold so dearly.

Hello everyone! I’m back from a mini blogging hiatus, after some much needed hard work leading up to SF-based film festivals and productions. It’s been a great month and I look forward to writing an update when I can get a moment to sit down and reflect.

For now, here are two favorite overhead shots of one of my favorite European cities. I’m pretty sure you all already know what city it is…as if you couldn’t tell by the other 2894010 pictures of it that I’ve already posted.

Okay. Yes, it’s Siena, Italy. And I’d just like to take a quick moment to say that I’m so in love with the blogging world, because it has put me in touch with artists and bloggers around the world who also share similar passions. Painters from Italy? Bloggers from Denmark? I live and breath for this stuff! Internet, I love you. So please, keep sending me your blog links and sharing your art with me, dear blogosphere of mine.

jeremypangilinansblog asked: Just thought I would drop by and say I read your last post in regards to your Photography Advice of just shoot and shoot some more and all the time. I think it is great advice and Everyone should follow it. I have a plethora of cameras and one of my favorites is an old film camera that has 0 pixels and Megabytes. Continue shooting and I really love your eye and what it sees.

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for the kind words and support. While I am not the first to say this sort of advice, I gladly support the idea that anyone and everyone who loves photography should just keep shooting, regardless of their access to the best technology. I will keep spreading the word, and I hope you will too. Best of luck to you and your photography excursions.

Yours truly,

LaM

WHAT IS THIS?!?!?! I love it.

Hello V,
This is a close-up photograph taken of the Roman Pool at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. It is a stunning room featuring an indoor pool covered floor to ceiling with one-inch colorful gold mosaic tiles. The design is styled after Roman pools and 5th Century Mausoleum mosaics. It is a beauty so captivating and awe-inspiring that it must be seen in person if you ever have the chance.
